We offer a school based English curriculum which is constantly reviewed and updated to provide appropriate and relevant topics, lexis and activities to prepare students for secondary school and enhance their ability to use of English in the real world.
The school based curriculum is supplemented by the use of e-learning platforms. These online activities and tasks not only bolster the English language abilities of the students, but also prepare them in the use of technology. Reading Across the Curriculum (RAC) has also newly incorporated to be part of the P.4-6 curriculum which not only enriches students’ exposure to different reading genres, but also knowledges across other subjects.
In addition, the school offers a wide range of opportunities for students to learn and practise their English outside of the classroom. There are weekly story-time sessions for primary 1 and 2 students, which also include singing and dancing. Regular games and activities such as the English fun day, treasure hunt and English Ambassadors also provide enjoyable and relaxing situations where the students can enhance their English skills. The school also recently began a series of drama and puppetry classes to help aspiring performers to improve their English and a variety of other skills as they prepare for public performances and competitions.
Field trips also provide opportunities for students to practise what they have learnt outside of the traditional school environment. Where possible, school trips are provided to McDonald’s, HK International Airport, Stanley and the Peak to motivate students to use their English to communicate in genuine situations with people they are unacquainted to.
We aim to motivate all of our students to use English wherever possible and to provide safe and inspiring environments where they can build strong foundations in English.
Our major concerns this year:
- To increase students' interest in reading and enrich their reading experience
- To enhance students' speaking skills and improve students' speaking performance through different activities
